Cuttings and repotting.

Hi,hi!
Very busy right now, taking cuttings and re potting plants in new compost.By the way it is now best time to take cuttings of regals, scented and angel pelargoniums.
For cuttings I mixing 1 part peat for seedlings and 1 part perlite+ sand(50%+50%)
Potting mix for 'big girls' i mixed 2 parts garden soil +3 parts potting peat,i have heavy clay soil,so if you have sandy,,then take 2 parts, and 1 part grit (sharp sand+grit),mix well.Of course if you have good compost instead of pure garden/top soil you can mix it with your own made compost.
Last year i tried lots different potting composts, what they offer in g/c,,sorry,i didn't like them and my plants too, it ended up in flower borders.I  planted my plants in pure bedding peat, and was happy for while, now i think they need something stronger,so that why i mixing my own.
I taking cuttings from all my pelargoniums,i started 20 august, and right now some of cuttings have roots already,so there will be plenty time to get nice growth until winter arrive.
For colour, some photos from end of july.

  1. I prefer a compost with peat in, but this year have been using coir plug with much success. Have just bought some coir blocks and will be trying that when my present bag is used up.

    1. I know they work very well,,but...i don't like them. They are good for bedding pelargoniums what is robust, and have very strong roots.I got plants what was rooted in coir plugs, after while they had problems around main steam and roots there,,they just rotted.I would love to get Root Riot Propagation Cubes,i hear that they are very, very good.
